Reader Opinion: Stand against hate

On Tuesday Feb. 13, the Director of National Intelligence, Dan Coats, along with FBI Director Christopher Wray, NSA Director Mike Rogers and CIA Director Mike Pompeo, testified before Congress saying our elections were under attack from Russia through cyber warfare. Dan Coats said, "We expect Russia to continue using propaganda, social media, false-flag personas, sympathetic spokespeople and other means of influence to try to exacerbate social and political fissures in the United States." Trump claimed he was going to build a wall and "Mexico is going to pay for it" despite the reality of ladders, boats and planes! Trump is billing us for his ridiculous promise. If his lips are moving he's spreading propaganda. Trump has repeatedly sounded the alarm on the Hispanic gang MS13 to fan the flames of intolerance against immigrants despite the fact that the KKK and white supremacists have been responsible for a shocking crime wave characterized by murder and acts of terror. Immigrants commit 40 percent less crime than native born Americans. Migrant farm workers do back breaking work for low pay and they pay taxes while Trump has bragged he has been smart to have not paid taxes some years. They're the people that feed us. When you consider Trump's attacks on Gold Star families who happened to be Muslim or African American it's impossible to claim he doesn't promote social division. Trump refused to implement the sanctions that were put in place to punish Russia for tampering with our last elections. Trump and Putin are singing from the same hymnal. Stand up for our Constitution and stand against hate and division. As Americans, our charge is to "form a more perfect Union" not dismantle the one we have. Greg Olson
