I want to congratulate the Aug. 7 letter writer (“Let our democracy function. Now, not later’) on his excellent summation of the legislative logjam regarding gun control legislation, the logs being placed by Sen. Paul Gazelka in the Minnesota Legislature and Sen. Mitch McConnell in the Senate in Washington. Are their memories so short that they have forgotten that 279 people have been killed in mass shootings since 2012? Don't they want to prevent similar happenings in the future? Apparently they don't care. We all have to live with our own choices. Their choice, I think, is selfish and purely political. God help us all. We reap what we sow.
