I suggest that Sue Kern follow the advice of the immortal Atticus Finch: “You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view… until you climb into his skin and walk around in it.” Because we are living in such a tumultuous time, it is important that we understand that all lives matter, especially the ones who have fought so hard to obtain equality. As a school board member who is overseeing an increasing diverse population, and who makes district policy, you should especially be cognizant of your position. Freedom from oppression has been the basis for our country’s origin -- and that demand continues. Posting a racist message on your Facebook account runs contrary to the beliefs of our schools, our community, and our country. You are listed as a primary user of that account. A Brainerd teacher was recently fired for doing the same thing.
