I was ordering new glasses and the person helping me asked me to sit for measurements. She wore no mask. When asked about that, she replied (with conviction and a smile) that masks don’t matter. This got me wondering as there is no way she could base that opinion on reason. Only science could do so. Does protesting give needed attention? Is the stand against authority a compensation for lack of power? Will kicking against science give the psychologically injured person an outlet for hostility? Or is this anti-mask attitude simply an extension of the childhood, “I don’t hafta”?

The message to those who disdain masks should be, “It isn’t just about you but about all of us.”
