Reader Opinion: Check your sources

ReaderOpinionBlue.JPG

As election season approaches, beware of fake news, especially on social media. Digital news providers keep track of what you view and show more similar content. This puts you in a “news bubble” that excludes alternative points of view. Not only that, sometimes it leads to “made up” news, like the kind in supermarket tabloids. Check your sources, including who pays them (Politifact) and fact-check the articles on sites like snopes.com. And read past the headlines, which can be misleading, even in regular print sources.
