Reader Opinion: Cost of freedom
As we draw near election day, I reflected on the state of our union over the past four years. I believe we come to a personal perspective on the state of our government, economy and people based on what we perceive to be true. Soon, we will again vote for leaders who will be responsible to us to address our concerns for the future path of our United States of America. This upcoming election of trusted representatives is of paramount importance to all Americans to get it right in light of the current affairs and history. The very presence of a divided nation of disenchanted people warrants our careful scrutiny to elect advocates and followers of the document defining the freedom we have been so blessed with. So be it that the Constitution of the United States was born and became the preeminent document to secure and protect that precious freedom for generations to come. What better way, to empower minds and hearts by voting to carry forward an ordained message to all humanity, the “Providence” value of freedom for all mankind. As George Washington proclaimed, “it will demonstrate as visibly the finger of Providence as any possible event in the course of human affairs can ever designate it.” So, in this time and place, your mind and heart do count in the process of preserving “that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness...” Let us be unified and empowered as our founding fathers who struggled in deliberative assembly to secure and ensure our liberty in life.
