Reader Opinion: Find a unique name

Today we have a variety of topics to draw names from — too many to list, but they also may turn out to be tired trends and cliches over time.

Lowell, Whittier, Harrison. Those schools were all named back in the '20s when it was trendy to name buildings after famous Americans. In the space age, we saw names like Glenn, Apollo, Gemini and Armstrong. There was a time when many cities found names like Kennedy and King on their buildings. Clichés, too, showed up. Detroit found the name Ford useful. There are many Lincoln buildings in Illinois, and here in Brainerd we have a plethora of "Lakes Area" names. Today we have a variety of topics to draw names from — too many to list, but they also may turn out to be tired trends and clichés over time. Let's avoid such patterns and christen our auditorium with a name that will be distinctively unique.
