Reader Opinion: How lucky we are
“For Better or For Worse” is a comic strip in the daily paper. It follows a dentist and his wife through their daily routines while living in Canada. Every day I read the strip and will either smile or laugh out loud.
Last Sunday’s paper did not make me laugh but did make me think. The mother is shopping in a supermarket with her young daughter. To the daughter she comments:”They’ve rearranged the cereals again. How are we supposed to find anything?!!” And, “I wish they’d stop putting displays in the aisles, they’re hard to get around.” And that there are no peaches and the lines were too long.
To her daughter she says,”Why are you so quiet?” To which the youngster replies,“Some people have never seen this much food in their whole lives -- have they mom? I was just thinking how lucky we are.”
