Reader Opinion: Insulin - at what cost?

After reading the “Nystrom blasts Senate GOP on insulin” article July 14, there is definitely some finger pointing going on. I agree. Why should someone have to travel to Canada and pay $26 for a vial of insulin rather than $340 for the exact same insulin here. Quinn Nystrom stated she has taken issue with Republican state senators but no success. Paul Gazelka response was like an average politician, he answered with a lot of words without addressing the issue correctly and honestly. He only mentions the Alec Smith Emergency Insulin Act, which would be a wonderful law, but does not mention the current lopsided cost of insulin today. The Senate cited a clerical error, Quinn Nystrom believed this is complete b.s. I agree! Quinn Nystrom alleges Nova Nordisk is spending large sums of money to persuade members of the GOP to kill the bill. Gazelka is an elected official and he works for us, the citizens of Minnesota. In my opinion he is one of many politicians lining their pockets.
