Reader Opinion: Keep politics out of schools

I hope voters take the time to study voting records of legislators before voting.

I want to talk with candidates about the public schools in the Brainerd area, and I am hoping to have a listening ear. Public schools appear to be used as a political football at this time. I would ask candidates to stop targeting public schools. Imagine how you would feel if you were shoo'd away because a candidate or an incumbent does not talk to constituents who may not agree with them. This could happen and has happened. It is vital — we need to check out voting records before we vote. I hope voters take the time to study voting records of legislators before voting. Again, thank you to School District 181 for the outstanding work they do and for striving to be better and our children safe.
