It seems to me that every time we defund programs designed to assist those least able to care for themselves the rich get richer and the police become more militarized.
Some of the things defunded are public education, public health, social services, Medicaid and food assistance programs, are all examples of programs that have been affected by defunding. Now the current administration is looking to defund the post office, which offers more benefits to those least able to afford to lose more services, I expect that someone will get richer as this happens.
Defunding the police has come to the awareness of the general public and there is outrage that this is being talked about, because after all a police force is what keeps us safe. This is from a sign at one of the peaceful protests: "Judging a demonstration by its most violent participants, but not judging a police force by its most violent cops is the language of the oppressor."
This from Jimmy Carter: "If you don't want your tax dollars to help the poor -- then stop saying that you want a country based on Christian values because you don't."
God's grace and peace abide with you.
