I am writing to support Derek Owen for the ISD 181 Board of Education. I have known Derek for most of his life as a coach, colleague and battery mate. He is a willing listener without a personal agenda or an ax to grind. I share his belief that we need a collaborative, unifying approach to leadership from our school board. A lifelong resident of our district, Derek has a strong sense of local history, and believes our schools have been and indeed are a great place to belong. He will help us retain our outstanding students with his commitment to high standards not only for academics, but also activities, arts, and athletics.
