Commissioner of Labor and Industry Nancy Leppink, according to many government officials, has played a vital role in preparing businesses for the many changes resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. According to Mary Rickey, Commissioner of Education, Nancy has been critical in helping to create safe and healthy conditions for teaching and learning of teachers and students alike.
The action of Paul Gazelka and Senate Republicans to summarily dismiss Nancy with no advance notice is incredibly irresponsible and dangerous during this public health crisis. I agree with the assessment of Governor Walz. Nancy was caught in the middle of a very petty political move. You can't hogtie the governor so go after the best in his administration. The very last thing Minnesotans need is to facilitate the political gamesmanship of Republicans that will cost us our Iives.
