I’m not sure how others are working through the chain of events that brought COVID-19 to the White House. Myself, it makes me ill to know Trump will boast how he survived COVID-19, waving to his supporters while hundreds of thousands of people have died. He has the best medical minds and treatments at his beck and call, while others have died struggling and gasping for breath. He mocked Biden during the debate for wearing a “big mask,” he refused to condemn white supremacy, he cannot even admit to feeling guilt or remorse concerning his lack of decency in his handling of the pandemic. It’s not in him to value the lives of others or comprehend their grief. I cannot support people such as him and will never be able to wrap my heart or mind around the concept. This is our new normal! To people who’ve worked in human services, how can you support a man that mocked a person he perceived had disabilities? That should have been the end of it for him. So how does anyone condone such cruelty? How do adults teach children to be kind when many haven’t held this man accountable for his destructive behavior and lack of decency to other human beings? I write so my kids and others will know the majority of “We the people” believe this is wrong on every level of humanity. Someday, when people my age are gone, people will read the archives and know who values life, dignity and humanity. They will know who cares enough to speak out for the lives of others. We really are in this together and maybe one day we can put this into action. We all do better, when we all do better! I have tears writing this. God help us!
