As a small business owner with a retail store in downtown Nisswa, I am concerned the impact COVID-19 may have on the Brainerd lakes area's upcoming 2020 season. This area is special in many ways to so many people. The area is made even more special by the local business owners that helped create a diverse, growing and thriving community. Many of us operate seasonal businesses and rely on the “high season” in which to generate revenues to keep our businesses running. Unfortunately, most of our businesses have been shuttered, and who knows for how long. What will the aftermath be when we get past the worst of the current state we are in? Will people still want to book summer trips to the resorts, shop in downtown Nisswa and explore the area? I hope during this time we can stay united as a community, support our local businesses and remember the importance of keeping the Brainerd lakes area thriving, vibrant and strong.
