Reader Opinion: Take action

To me labeled Democrat or Republican is not the issue, it is what is in people's minds and souls. We could be doing so many in this country that would help all!

It is deplorable how little Congressman Stauber discusses the slaughter of those children and teachers in that school, that day, on his Facebook page for reelection. The responses from some of his constituents are terrifying in their lack of empathy and terror they should feel for those children and teachers and their families. They simply only speak of their rights, not the people and families lost that day.

Fact is, if that 18 year old would not have been able to purchase that high capacity killing machine on that day, all in the school that day would be home with their families. That brings me to Josh Heintzeman and Paul Gazelka. Many are still waiting for a response from these gentlemen. I have not seen any in our paper. Is winning more important than the loss of life that day? It must be! Are they hoping people forget? We will not! This writer believes that the label Democrat or Republican is not what is important, what is important is our capacity to care about others and our capacity to take action. The label does not matter!

There is a certain mentality that will always be among us that can destroy, we have seen that over and over again. To me labeled Democrat or Republican is not the issue, it is what is in people's minds and souls. We could be doing so many in this country that would help all! Universal health care, for one! I sincerely hope we can do this! We all need this! Vote, and before we vote, study voting records.

There can be benefit from earlier teachings of compassion, not only to a wider community, but to ourselves; as we are, as we were and as we will become.
Based on the financial straits the Brainerd School District is currently experiencing, it would be better for everyone if the district were shopping for a consultant to assist them with a fiscal plan, not a strategic plan.
That is what the Shriners Clubs and members do. They help handicapped children and their families receive medical care to improve their lives and make a positive impact in their lives.
