Recently, a group of mental health professionals took the unprecedented step of expressing their opinions of the mental state of our president. The bottom line: they concluded he was mentally unfit for the office.

Reaction on either side of the political aisle: nothing. He was handed the nuclear codes; we'll pretend he's OK.

Cabinet level officials have directed staff not to use the term 'global warming' in their writing or

discussions. The term is to be removed from government websites. So, will not talking and writing about make it go away? Actually, human-caused global warming is real as reported by the vast majority of the world's climate scientists. Yet, the president doesn't mention global warming in his address to Congress!

It seems another item to be soon swept under the rug: Russian interference with our election, and collusion with Trump staff members. After spending millions on investigating Hillary, there seems to be no furor on the Republican side to do the same to Mr. Trump. Perhaps they want to file this with Trump's tax returns.

"Repeal and replace Obamacare" was an election battle cry, with the promise of what to come being better, cheaper, offer more choice, and with no one losing coverage. We are seeing the reality and discovering 'none of the above.'

Allowing coal mine waste to be dumped into rivers and streams, allowing more oil exploration on previously protected sites, and running pipelines through pristine areas, will undoubtedly damage the environment but we'll let the grandkids figure out how to cope with the damage. For now we'll pretend it won't hurt a thing.

Is the denial of issues the price to be paid for our "greatness?"
