Reader Opinion: Abortion vs. capital punishment

Regardless of where you stand on abortion or capital punishment, it should be easy to tell that to compare the two makes about as much sense as hair on a baseball.

Abortion is the taking of innocent life. Capital punishment involves a person convicted of taking another's innocent life.

Abortion is usually death for convenience, the idea of capital punishment is death to achieve justice.

Abortion victims are arbitrarily eliminated by one person's decision; executed criminals have benefited from an exhaustive and lengthy legal journey with lawyers, jurors, and appeals ad nauseam, that has given them every legal benefit known to mankind.

In addition, there is often worry and anguish that the person being executed felt no pain, and that their demise was quick. It seems the innocent who is being aborted doesn't get that same consideration.
