I'm writing today to thank and congratulate the Brainerd-Baxter community and surrounding areas, and the Baxter Walmart Supercenter, for their generous support of Gillette Children's Specialty Healthcare, Minnesota's Children's Miracle Network Hospital (CMN Hospital). Gillette is a specialty care hospital based in St. Paul, Minn., with outpatient clinics throughout the state-including right here in Baxter. Gillette treats children who have complex medical conditions, rare disabilities and traumatic injuries, and last year served more than 200 patients from Crow Wing County alone.
I've worked with the leadership and associates of the Baxter Walmart Supercenter for many years through their fundraising efforts on behalf of Gillette
Since 1992, the Baxter Walmart Supercenter has consistently remained the top fundraising Walmart in Minnesota and western Wisconsin for Gillette. It was the first Walmart/Sam's Club location in this region to hit the fundraising milestone of $30,000; then over $50,000; and in 2017 the store raised a record breaking $70,796 for Gillette. This brings Baxter Walmart to a historical giving milestone of $500,000 since 1992. No other Minnesota or western Wisconsin Walmart/Sam's Club has come close to this achievement.
Finally, during the recent September fundraising campaign through Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, the Baxter Walmart Supercenter ranked tenth in the nation raising $37,687 for Gillette Children's Specialty Healthcare in one month alone. In addition to this achievement, at the end of the September campaign CMN Hospitals announced that historically Walmart and Sam's Club have raised $1 billion for 170 CMN Hospitals since 1987.
These ongoing achievements speak to the longtime devotion of the Baxter Walmart Supercenter's store managers, associates and shoppers. On behalf of Gillette, we say "Thank you and congratulations for years of helping kids discover everything they can do when they receive expert medical care!"
