Reader Opinion: Bean Hole Days

I have attended Bean Hole Days for 30 years. So, my camera was busy both days as the pots of beans entered the bed of hot coals on Tuesday and were removed noon Wednesday.

Two media cameras filming the event asked me to go stir beans with a canoe paddle. This allowed me the freedom to deviate with crazy maneuvers.

Next, a microphone on my collar with battery in my pocket prepared for a Q and A concerning the history of Bean Hole Day. "Self-help" and "no pills for pain" has been my key to wellness. TV ads promoting medications have lead to the epidemic of opioid addiction in our nation.

This year was perhaps the best attended in 30 years. Weather was cooperating and the park was jumping to Breezy Point resident Chris Olson's impersonation of Elvis Presley.

I plan to attend for many more years.
