Reader Opinion: Caught red handed

I'm sure the Brainerd Dispatch called the April 22 letter writer to "fact check" his recent hypocritical, and seriously deranged rant against perceived American "bigotry." I'm sure Matt Erickson and Renee Richardson keenly pondered their policies of keeping Reader Opinion pieces sane and civil before they passed his screed on to the public.
Yet, there the revealing diatribe was, in all its maniacal splendor.
Of course, what it reveals is the truth about the Brainerd Dispatch. Anti-Christian, anti-American venom is in keeping with their established narrative, so it's published, unquestioned and unashamedly. Bile from members of the Brainerd Coalition for Peace is, simply by virtue of its origin, immune to any sort of shame or reflective thought.
The coalition was responsible for bringing Sami Rasouli here, in 2009, to slander the American military. Four weeks later, 750 of us gathered in CLC gym to tell them what we thought of their delusional hatred.
I wonder where those 750 people have gone. Certainly none of them have found work at the Brainerd Dispatch. Nor has that "institution" grown a soul. The BACP, all eight of them, still regularly gather on street corners, and splatter the pages of our "community" newspaper with demented lectures on how awful we are.
Nothing could be more revealing of the essence of who, and what, they are than the piece submitted April 22. I suppose that is the silver lining to the Dispatch's tarnished reality.
Nothing could be more revealing of who we are as a community than allowing the Dispatch to continue looking the other way when hatred and bigotry is offered as sanctimonious piety. Slander and insanity is not civil discourse. Politics doesn't trump psychosis.
Shame on you, Brainerd Dispatch. The April 22 piece was par for your misguided course. Wake up, Brainerd.
