Crow Wing County is taking several local landowners in Long Lake Township to court.
The county, along with board members from Long Lake Township that have pushed this, want to take their land by eminent domain to open up 39 acres of land-locked, tax-forfeited land next to a swamp. No fish, no boating and no swimming available, a nice road to nowhere for the public to enjoy. Our access road is a one-land dirt road that you cannot meet a car on and in underwater two of three years.
This is going on when there are thousands of acres of tax forfeited land next to lakes with fish and boating opportunities for the public. Is this fair action for the county to take? Do we now have money to spend on a worthless project like this, considering our access road can hardly meet the needs of the landowners? Is this the precedence we want to set in our local neighborhoods?
Our land had a snowmobile trail through it for years, now some want to make the trail a permanent use to access the swamp. Property owners beware, if the trail goes through your land to access tax forfeited land your property seizure could be next!
