To the Brainerd writer who accused me of writing a perniciously politicized poison letter about gun control, don't get apoplectic. I wasn't accusing you personally for the latest mass shooting. I specifically said the NRA and Congress for following the mandates of the NRA instead of the electorate who put them in office to represent them. I couldn't have been more clear. If you would read the Second Amendment, it doesn't say anything about allowing everyone to own an assault rifle meant only for killing people. They belong in the hands of the military only. And I am so tired of hearing that guns don't kill people, people do. No one with a knife could kill 49 innocent people and critically wound 53. Guns kill people! They are also used to settle personal disputes, kill spouses, kids and anyone who gets in the way of a lunatic on a shooting spree. I guess some twisted minds feel that the one with the most guns in the end, wins. It's time to take a lesson from Australia and end the madness. They instituted gun control in 1996 and haven't had a mass shooting since.
