Nobody likes to hear about the death of any child, U.S. citizen or Guatemalan refugee. Do not jump to conclusions about Homeland Security, Border Patrol or ICE (yes, they employ mothers and fathers) when two kids happen to die at one of the refugee detainment centers. This headline is sensationalist news simply because the survival odds are stacked against Central American kids from birth. In the U.S., 2017-18, we lost over 170 kids (1 every 2 days) to flu and pneumonia related causes but you don't see that being reported anywhere. Do not let the unfortunate passing of these two Guatemalan kids be heralded by politicians or media as some sort of secret everyday mistreatment of children that resulted in their deaths. That is simply not supported by the data.
