I think it is time for our uninformed governor to enlighten himself with the Constitution of the United States, wherein there is a guarantee of freedom of speech and a protection from a government intrusion into that freedom. I suggest that the governor begin his quest for education by visiting the cemetery at Fort Snelling, and then travel to our nearby Camp Ripley and then on to Arlington National Cemetery and then visit the beaches of Normandy and maybe, just maybe, our governor will begin to understand how many people have fought and died to protect the freedom of speech that this country assures all citizens. Maybe then he will see that his calling for the removal of a Columbia Heights School Board member over his anti-Muslim remarks is in itself an anti-American reaction and well beneath the standard of a true American. Perhaps the governor and the Columbia Heights choir teacher, who took valuable school time to demonstrate instead of using that time to teach the value of freedoms afforded to our citizens by the Constitution, should travel together to Berlin, Germany, and visit the grave sites of thousands of people who died trying to cross over to freedom from the very type of government that our state leader is trying to establish here in Minnesota.
