God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Ps. 46:1. Amen.

Listening to the news I learned that scientists apparently can determine conditions of planets in the universe and if one could support life, that planet is called Goldilocks, "just right." Interesting.

God can't use Goldilocks Christians, those waiting until everything is "just right" before getting involved. It'll never happen. James 1:2 states "... count it all joy when (not if) you face trials (troubles) of many kinds..." With evil like ISIS around, you better do a gut check to just see how committed you are. Remember Ps. 46:1.

Last month a letter asked "Why the hate?" It's been a question that's been asked since God made man. Just as there is light, there is darkness. There is goodness and there is evil. God didn't make robots with no will but to be programmed. God gave us free will. We decide how we live, life is a choice. Because of our sin DNA, we go to the "dark side" naturally. You can go with that or choose to defy your natural instincts and go the "light," Jesus.

Why the hate? The devil is as real as God. They are warring against each other with you and I deciding who we will follow.

Final word on sacrificial love and martyrdom. What is the difference between a Christian and terrorist martyr? Is it done in love or hate? To give life or take it?

Read 1 Cor. 13, the love chapter. Paul says in verse 3b, "...though I give my body to be burned (blown up) and have not love, I gain nothing." I believe this verse is for terrorists to read.

Read Psalm 139. God bless.
