Yesterday I was blessed with the birth of my third great-grandchild. Yes, our babies are having babies. Sometimes we wonder why people would want to bring children into this troubled world but when I look at these babies and the joy they bring, I can only say to their parents, "Thank you for not giving up on this world. Thank you for bringing into this world, someone that can make a difference, in the lives' of all of us." That should be the goal of every parent. That their child will contribute something to society that no one else can-because they are that unique. That maybe, just maybe, they will help clean up the mess we helped make of this world. That their children will eventually replace them, and in so doing do them one better.
We live in a country that seems to have a price tag on everything. We are all too often a greedy glutinous nation, that doesn't care about human interaction when it comes to the worth of these children to our future. It's a future that for the greedy defines success only in money and possessions, instead of the love and understanding that babies can grow up and bring to all of us, a far better America. That is if we care enough to have them, love them, educate and culture them. We will never buy our way out of our problems as the rich feel they can but we can care our way to a far better country then we have now and that's within the abilities of all of us.
