U.S. Senate and House Democrats are continuing their efforts for legislation to establish background checks for gun sales and preventing people on the FBI's suspected terrorist database from buying weapons online or at gun shows. Republicans are concerned that someone mistakenly on the terror watch list would be inconvenienced by needing to clear their name before being allowed to buy an assault rifle, explosives, large capacity clips or other weapons. I believe it is more inconvenient to lose a classroom full of our children in the seconds that it takes to unload a 30 round clip. Watch C-Span or online news coverage of our U.S. senators and House representatives working on getting common sense gun legislation. House Rep. Nancy Pelosi wants the House to "act on gun bills rather than continually hold moments of silence in memory of victims of gun violence." I am proud of our own Rep. Rick Nolan, who took part in the sit-in protest on the U.S. House floor asking the House Speaker, Paul Ryan, for discussion and a vote on gun legislation.
