A July 24 Reader Opinion letter titled, "Educational leadership" talks about the recent decision to make public pronouncements made by Brainerd Superintendent Larson about the teacher who oversees the Brainerd yearbook and the fact that she went overboard in "lambasting" this individual in the public.

With a background in the educational field, It appears to me that the letter writer would have sat down with this teacher and discussed this issue internally with not much information being made public; except for that fact this teacher made an error in judgement (which everyone already knows) and received a five day suspension. I have no problem with that, heck who wants their dirty laundry aired in public. However, the letter makes the same mistake that it accuses Superintendent Larson of-it's throwing the superintendent under the bus. Does not stating Larson's response to this issue as "a lapse in ethical and professional behavior" not similar in tone? It's showing the same lack of education leadership that the superintendent is accused of, of in my opinion.

They should have sat down with Superintendent Larson and expressed their views of this situation in a private conversation, educator to educator versus in a letter to the editor. That certainly would have been more productive, professional and who knows they both might have learned something new on the issue which is part of what education is about.
