I am a World War II veteran. Mr. Nelson handled my issues in a very swift and caring way.
My sister was a retired Navy Lt. Commander and moved to Brainerd from out of state. She had dementia. I was dealing with out-of-state veterans service offices and having difficulty getting her veteran issues resolved.
I went to Bob Nelson explaining the situation. He said I will handle these issues: "Young man, go home and get some sleep." All of the necessary issues were taken care of very effectively.
I don't know the Crow Wing County bureaucrats recommending Bob be terminated as a veterans service officer because he isn't jumping through their necessary hoops.
Are they power hungry, feel they must receive some notoriety in the newspaper, or maybe they don't have enough to do and could be replaced?

One thing is very certain, Mr. Nelson is doing the job the Crow Wing County Board hired him to do, that is to deal with issues for Crow Wing County veterans, and he isn't interested in the politics that are in the Crow Wing County courthouse.
In all units of government too many of the bureaucrats have a midget mentality.
The Crow Wing County Commissioners are elected to represent the citizens and all veterans in our county, so do your job and keep Bob Nelson as the Crow Wing County veterans service officer and hold him accountable only to the elected county commissioners.
Perhaps the county commissioners should do a job review of the bureaucrats that want Bob Nelson terminated as a veterans service officer.
