I believe we should focus on world peace. Think of all the people in Afghanistan, Iraq, Somalia, Syria and many other places where wars have been going on for years. Some people there can't get out of their houses to get food and water, farm or go to work because there is a war going on. There are children who cannot go outside to play or to school because it isn't safe. Some kids grow up not having seen one day without war. Our own country has been responsible for many recent wars, like Libya, which have destroyed societies and stoked hatred and radical extremism.
If we had world peace, men and women could come home to be with family and friends. Parents have to leave their kids for months or years to fight, return, then go back to war! If there were world peace we could use our resources for building a better future rather than destruction.
If we had world peace different peoples could treat each other with respect. In Somalia people belonging to different tribes fight and don't trust one another. The same racist feelings have led to wars being fought in Sudan, Uganda and Zimbabwe. But Africa is not the only continent that has racial conflict. Many wars have been due to race or religion. We see racism right here where some people want the Somali community out of St. Cloud. And many wars have been about resources, money and power, such as the U.S. invasion of Iraq.
My friend's granddad was almost bombed during war. I feel sad for the families who lost people they love in a war. I think we should focus on world peace because that would solve many problems. Please, let's work together so we can save the world from war!
