We are being lied to - again - by the leftist machine in Minnesota.
The letters to the editor on "transportation" at the same time betray this propaganda assault.
We hear them crow that the legislators must do the right thing. The mayor of Brainerd explains that we need to provide "dedicated" money.
Apparently the eternally ungrateful left once again thinks us fools.
Let's take a stroll down memory lane and go back to 2006. Minnesotans were conned into passing, yes, a Transportation Amendment to the Minnesota Constitution.

That was sold to citizens as a path to "dedicated funding" where all motor vehicle sales tax proceeds go specifically toward transportation.
The critics of the amendment were jeered as fools and pessimists because they feared that the wording of the proposed amendment could allow projects such as light rail to swallow up the bulk of the money while roads and bridges could receive almost no funding.
Well guess what?
That "dedicated funding" was swallowed up by light rail, the amusement park boondoggle of the metro left.
Now, we are once again told by hand-wringing leftist do-gooders that we must fund the road and bridge work - again- so that we "don't leave it up to our grandchildren to pay for it."
Please! I'm tired of that same old chestnut being tossed at taxpayers.
One writer said we elected a new crop of legislators to go down to St. Paul and fix the roads and bridges.
Well, that's not the way it went down. We send down new representatives on their promises to cut spending and to lower taxes.

Let's not buy into the lie that we rejected leftists policies only to have our new representatives go and do exactly the same things that made us reject those policies in the first place!
