Volunteerism empowers individuals to find their purpose; to take their passion and turn it into meaningful change. Today, as people strive to lead lives that reflect their values, the expression of civic life has evolved. Whether online, at the office, or the local food bank; whether with a vote, a voice, or a wallet-doing good comes in many forms, and we recognize and celebrate them all.
National Volunteer Week is an opportunity to recognize and thank volunteers; it's an opportunity to shine a light on the people and causes that inspire us to serve. Their stories serve to inspire others to take action, to realize their power to make a difference, and be a force that transforms the world.
National Volunteer Week kicks off on April 7, 2019, with Good Deeds Day, a global day of service that unites people from more than 100 countries to do good deeds for the benefit of others and the planet. Good Deeds Day is an opportunity to start National Volunteer Week by coming together with friends, family, neighbors and colleagues to do good in your community and demonstrate that every individual has the power to create change and build stronger, more resilient communities.
Crow Wing County has many opportunities to volunteer. The Crow Wing County Volunteer Coordinators Association has many leaders in all areas to offer you a place to put your time and talents.
I want to thank the many volunteers in Crow Wing County, but most of all, the place where I work, Essentia Health. They impact the organization and bring that extra special JOY to our patients. Thank you!
