For as long as I can recall marijuana has always been an illegal drug. A few states now call it "recreational marijuana" and Minnesota now has legislators and the governor moving toward similar legislation. An initial question needs to be asked. If such a bill is approved and signed and results in injury and/or death via motor vehicle to the innocent non-users of this drug can those individuals that approved this type of legislation be held financially responsible? Not just when in public office but after leaving a public office and maybe even the estates of deceased approvers? As I recall the king(s) are no longer exempt from being sued. So what should be the financial penalty or how many figures? Is an innocent person's injury and/or death from a gun any different than injury and/or death via a motor vehicle by a user of a once illegal drug when the only difference between a gun and vehicle is the size of the metal mass?
It is also interesting that on one hand government wants to stop the great number of society problems associated with opioids and distracted driving and on the other hand legislators and the governor wants to approve what has always been an illegal drug and increase traffic injury and deaths.
