Reader Opinion: Mother Earth and the unwritten treaty

I will not only give you life but will give you all that you will need to sustain your life: water, food, oxygen, etc.

In return all I ask from you is that you do not take advantage of me. Don't abuse me to the point where I can no longer produce what you need to sustain you. For then I will become sick and need time to heal.

Many of my lakes have been infested with invasive species (milfoil, zebra mussels, etc.). As an example, one of my lakes in Minnesota has been over-harvested to the critical point. This has greatly curtailed the sport fishing for walleyes.

Whatever caused this problem will sooner or later have to be addressed.

When are you going to address these problems?
