Solar and wind energy collecting devices are called "renewable." They are, however, extensions of the fossil fuel supply system and the global industrial infrastructure. Consider all the equipment needed to make and maintain these devices and their auxiliary equipment.
When it comes time to replace these devices, where will the energy come from to make the glass, component parts or even recycle the aluminum. They are only sustainable with the input of fossil fuels.
I am not a supporter of fossil fuels or pipelines. To truly plan for the future, we need to look at whole system.
