Reader Opinion: Reflecting on Thanksgiving

"Certainly every man at his best state is but vapor. Surely they busy themselves in vain; he heaps up riches, and does not know who will gather them. And now, Lord, what do I wait for? My hope is in you. Deliver me from my transgressions; do not ...

"Certainly every man at his best state is but vapor. Surely they busy themselves in vain; he heaps up riches, and does not know who will gather them. And now, Lord, what do I wait for? My hope is in you. Deliver me from my transgressions; do not make me the reproach of the foolish." Rev 39:5c-8.

As I get older, my OP (obstinate procrastination) gets worse. I'm just now writing about my missing Thanksgiving letter. I'm terrible with computers and didn't send the letter right to the Dispatch!

I wanted to wish everyone a blessed Thanksgiving and have lots to be thankful for, and still do.

The Saturday before Thanksgiving, I had dinner at my niece's and all we talked about was old age ailments, backs, hips, eyes. I came to the conclusion, I'm old! We joked about going downtown Brainerd, Baxter doesn't have a downtown, and riot about the election but opted to nap and let the turkey's tryptophan work on us instead.

I joked about Walz and wallet sound alike, though in four years the wallet won't be as thick. With Evers, I mean, either will Wisconsin's.

I said an amen to Mike Holst's "Drain the Swamp" letter, awesome ideas! Our forefathers believed in the goodness of men and love of country and would be disgusted to see what's going on today. They also believed in a loving God that would bless America and has or we would be a footnote in history by now! Our relationship with Israel helps keep us on God's good side also. Amen.

Men will let you down but God never will! Amen.
