This would all be funny and absurd if it were not so traumatic and deadly.

We continue to offer up our citizens as sacrifices at the altar of a dark and barbaric, pagan sect who not only worship guns but also reserve the right of their chosen few to be able to operate without any restriction, regardless of consequence.

Such old religions and their twisted gods have long been abandoned by those countries that desire to be civilized and, amazingly, those countries thrive and blossom in ways we could only hope for.

With answers staring us in the face, we have a Congress who continues to vote to continue the blood sacrifices to appease those dark gods of death and destruction.

We are also sacrificing our very social order and our right to continue to even be considered part of the civilized world.

But the dark gods are kept satisfied with the blood and flesh, the human sacrifice we continue to offer up weekly in this country.

Those gods know that they will never convert most of us to their cult and, perhaps, they hope to simply wipe out opposition or to have those with guns replace democracy with "might makes right," whoever has the biggest or most guns gets to decide the fate of the rest.

It is all so unhealthy and bizarre and incredible that it is hard to understand how we continue to tacitly allow it.

How much more blood must be sacrificed on this altar before we rise with a mighty voice and say "Enough," and make the necessary changes. No, not small tinkering but real change and control like the rest of the civilized world.
