To me, the most dangerous toxic environment is slightly different from the scenario pitched in a recent letter to the editor.
The environment I most fear and mistrust is the one in which all real progress is stifled under the toxic message of perhaps well-intentioned do-gooders struggling to save us from ourselves.
I fear an atmosphere where we must learn to limit what we may achieve, or must learn to do with less in order to consider ourselves "successful."
The environmental lobby uses these people to advance firm central control over every aspect of our existence because we are far too stupid to live our lives independently.
The only thing to become "sustainable" under such strict and inflexible demands is further government control.

America did not become the Breadbasket of the World by limiting ourselves to a hand-to-mouth existence. The more we are forced to embrace sustainability, the more we place ourselves at the mercy of the only food source that will remain: a domineering and demanding government agency, soulless and agenda driven.
Heaven forbid you do not fit their idea of being worthy of sustenance.
