I greatly object to the use of social media as a source of news on nightly broadcasts. The use of highly dramatic and emotional events that are offensive and inflammatory presented from social media are destructive. What is the purpose? To inflame or to inform? The latest presentation on the 9 p.m. news about four African American teens assaulting a disabled white teen was an example of irresponsible news reported by Fox 9. Just ask Chicago police and local high school personnel, who are subjected to the results of this repotting on a daily basis, how many retaliatory events are promoted by this kind of social media manipulation. There certainly must be more appropriate newsworthy events during a day in our country rather than some sick act on social media. I think it is time to let these TV station know that as adults we are not willing to put up with this twisted presentation of the news. If they need "fillers" for the news reporting there must be some other more appropriate sources rather than social media.
