How proud we are of our county Veteran Service Officer Bob Nelson, who stands unswerving, never failing to provide service to all of Crow Wing County's many veterans, even under the burden of uncontrolled bureaucratic attack by his supervisors. Bob devotes his entire life to providing to the best of his abilities service to our veterans, he is positively steadfast in his belief that the veteran comes first before the multi-level interference of bureaucrats wanting to insert their micro-management of his office.
Some time ago the CVSO was placed under the supervision of the Social Services department; this was a very bad decision for it took valuable time directed away from the veterans trying to answer to bureaucrats who know nothing of the needs of veterans.
Bob Nelson is rated as one of the top 10 CVSOs in Minnesota. His office is a county board appointment every four years by Minnesota state statute. His office should remain under the direct supervision of the county board. The office has been exceptional in servicing veterans and runs very smoothly without micro management by the bureaucrats.
I urge all veterans to attend the board meeting on Feb. 24 and call your commissioner to show your support for Bob and his office. The CVSO brings approximately $40 million annually into the county.
I challenge the bureaucrats to look deeply into themselves to insure they do not get caught up in a leaky, awkward, feeble lie that will destroy you. This witch hunt is without merit and should be abandoned.
