Reader Opinion: Support Brekken

I support Bill Brekken, a constructive community leader I will not be able to vote for as a non-resident of his district; however, all county residents, including me, have a civic interest in the governing temperaments of our county board members.

I support Bill Brekken, a constructive community leader I will not be able to vote for as a non-resident of his district; however, all county residents, including me, have a civic interest in the governing temperaments of our county board members.

In his years of leadership through the Brainerd Lakes Area Community Foundation and elsewhere, Bill Brekken has never sought the spotlight his opponent relishes.

Recent evidence of that presumptiveness exists in his opponent's demand at a county board meeting for an immediate apology, from Mr. Brekken to a board which sought no apology, with respect to issues between Mr. Brekken and his opponent, all in Mr. Brekken's absence.

Bill Brekken is polite in public, when his opponent often is not, and lives without need for or use of the abrasive public words often sarcastically deployed by his opponent.

Please support a calm voice for democracy: Bill Brekken.
