According to the New York Times, the Benghazi Committee, set up in May 2014, has now spent over $7 million in taxpayer money and has been operational longer than the 9/11 commission.
It has dragged on longer than congressional investigation into the attack on Pearl Harbor, the assassination of President Kennedy, Watergate, the Iran Contra Scandal, the 1983 bombing that killed 241 American service personnel in Beirut, and the governmental response (or lack thereof) to Hurricane Katrina.
As revealed by members of the committee itself, this debacle was never about justice or even the tragic loss of four lives. The sole aim of the GOP-led committee was the political destruction of Hillary Clinton. Seven million dollars later, this GOP led travesty has again come up with nothing, zero, nada, nothing! Why? Because earlier investigations, also paid for with taxpayer dollars, determined the fault was a lack of support due to drastic budget cuts by a GOP-led Congress. The GOP need look no further than their own misguided attempts to induce governmental failure by underfunding service at all levels. American voters need to wake up and take a hard look at reality.
