It is a good thing to see people reaching across their differences to work together and to understand. The terrible events in Minneapolis make it harder for all involved and all who live there. There will always be some personalities that should not have guns or be in law enforcement. There obviously needs to be more training and this includes more training in de-escalating situations and training on mental health crisis situations. Labeling and comments directed at race or those who have different lifestyles promote the unease and feed the anger. I believe as adults it is our responsibility to remain mindful in supporting learning and cooperation. Perhaps we all need guidelines to responding to law enforcement and those who choose this career need specialized ongoing training. Communication is vital and learning how to communicate with diversity is vital. We expect that out of our teachers, why not of ourselves? I have a knee jerk reaction to racist bigoted statements. I have to step back so my anger does not make a situation worse. I think there is wisdom in that for all.
