Some guy wrote in to the Brainerd Dispatch to express his consternation at what was reported by the Dispatch to be, as I read it, the safe resolution of a potentially dangerous situation involving what was described as a despondent 32-year-old Brainerd man. I have great empathy for this man since I, too, have watched and heard Hillary and Bernie. Very frightening, indeed. The long, short and accurate account of this incident as reported leads me to believe that the well trained officers of the Brainerd and Baxter police departments and Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office responded to what could be a cop's worst call. The domestic call such as this is fraught with danger since so much is unknown. There could be a bunch of crazed occupiers demanding to use somebody else's bathroom or demanding to get a high paying job offer for a granddaughter. You just never know. Rather than gripe about the correct assessment and defusing of a difficult situation, I think all Brainerd/Crow Wing voters should thank all involved in this cooperative, professional and successful handling. There were no fatalities, injuries or property damage. Brainerd voters should also congratulate themselves for electing the current mayor. Very wise.
