And so it begins, the Hillary bandwagon that has been touring the country and the world for eight years is now on its way to Philadelphia for the beginning of the "big parade" to stop at the White House.
Also part of the election hoopla will be the other presumptive candidate, Donald Trump, who, as part of the media circus began as an election clown and has now morphed into a real "American option."
Remember we have a history of ne'er-do-well sons becoming president, a sports announcer/movie star becoming president, as well as a failed haberdasher, not to mention bodybuilders and professional wrestlers becoming governors. Our unpredictability has no limits, especially as elections become more "any means to an end," financed by barrels of money from the economic elite and their multinational corporations.
Lost in all the hoopla and media circus are some inconvenient truths. Neither candidate is really interested in challenging the rule of the economic elite, nor income inequality, nor the lack of the voices of ordinary citizens in our national dialogue.
We have a 1 percenter who feels that his financial success, as questionable as that might be, is proof of legitimate political leadership skills.

On the other hand, we have a more modest 1 percenter who simply wants to maintain the system, keeping it well oiled with trade policies, fracking, continuous war, expansion of the security state and more privatization, while allowing the continuing deterioration of our infrastructure. She will tinker a bit with women's rights and equal pay but is more likely to govern like Margaret Thatcher than Eleanor Roosevelt.
The biggest celebration, sponsored by the corporate world, is because the only real threat to the rule of the 1 percent, led by Bernie Sanders, appears to have been rebuffed.
