American citizens are frustrated and are speaking loudly and clearly about the need to change paths. They want change.

On one end of the spectrum there are energized citizens who want action and who see their path as moving toward strong leadership and direct action to attack and subdue what they perceive as our enemies outside of the country and within.

On the other end of the spectrum there are energized citizens who perceive the problem in terms of the dominance of big-money in society and in politics which has led to such incredible income inequality. They want to disconnect from that big-money path and go back to what they see as a more American path of New Deal political balance, with more citizen participation, more emphasis on community and more democracy.

Between those two positions is the establishment center dominated by an economic elite who control the media, most of the institutions and the political levers of power. As one might guess, they will do whatever is necessary to maintain their position of power and control, discrediting those who they see as threats, denying media coverage as they see fit, limiting voting rights, and providing distractions in any way they can.

In the election of 2008, after the financial debacle, the citizens rose up in frustration and elected a young, black president who seemed to be telling them that he would do a FDR/New Deal kind of job restraining big-money. He tried to work from within the system with results that showed that the system is too powerful to reform from within.

After seeing those results, the people are back again actively seeking change and hoping that the power of the establishment will not thwart their efforts once again.
