I feel the need to comment about our legislative representatives proposing a law that denies transgender women using public bathrooms. Doesn't the Legislature have more important problems to address? I would hope that before this proposal reaches the floor that some research on the transgender issue is done. Firstly, women use separate stalls in public restrooms. There is never any disclosure. Can you imagine a transgender woman entering a men's bathroom? She would certainly be escorted out at the very least. Young people in athletics who are transgender would have to work out how to handle the locker rooms in individual cases I imagine. My transgender friend is legally and physically a woman. To deny her the use of a public bathroom is probably unconstitutional. Talk to the medical profession and even some transgender people before you propose such a ridiculous law.
