In response to the "Got conscience?" letter in the Sunday Dispatch, I would like to point out that until we do something about the frustration, anger and hatred that permeates so much of our society, these types of killings will still occur. And they will occur with increasing frequency in part because of the publicity and exposure every media outlet gives to the perpetrator who decides to go out in a blaze of mistaken glory.
No matter what we ban, a criminal-and perhaps a frustrated, angry and hateful individual-will always find the weapon(s) necessary to kill the object(s) of those emotions. If I was bent on mass murder, I could and would find a way-poison, gas, explosives, or guns-to make it happen.
Everything gets politicized by one side or the other to the point that almost all laws end up making us think we've done something good and positive while in actuality, "It is a tale. Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury. Signifying nothing."
Ponder this. Given all the welfare programs implemented since the Great Society was started why do we still have such rank poverty in many cities and areas of our great nation?
