We've had yet another mass shooting at a school in our country resulting in the massacre of innocent lives. In the aftermath, we have heard yet another chorus of Republicans in Congress proclaiming that their thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families.
I'm sorry, but thoughts and prayers won't bring back the dead and won't prevent another massacre. Yet, those are the only two things that the Republicans ever offer after every mass shooting. Why do they refuse to do anything more?
The answer is simple. The National Rifle Association does not want any legislation enacted that would prevent the ownership of any firearm, and it lines the pockets of GOP legislators with millions of dollars for them to do its bidding and prevent any such legislation.
Get the picture? It's much more important to Republicans that they get these millions for their campaign war chests, so that they can keep their jobs, than it is to try and do something about protecting innocent lives.
The victims of the next mass school shooting (and there will be one) could include your children or grandchildren. Think about that when you go and vote in November.
